A nebulizer turns liquid into a fine mist that can be inhaled. This is the fastest and most effective delivery method for individuals who require medicine that's used to treat the lungs. A portable nebulizer allows you to administer treatments in the privacy and comfort of your own home. A Nebulizer is a drug delivery device used to convert liquid medicine into a mist so that it can be immediately absorbed by the respiratory system, and provide relief from conditions such as asthma. Nebulizers are available for adult and pediatric applications. Nebulizers use oxygen or compressed air to vaporize liquid medicine into tiny aerosol droplets. The aerosol droplets are a mixture of gas and liquid particles. The patient inhales the droplets into their nostrils or through their mouth. The fine mist is more easily and readily absorbed by the body, so the nebulizer allows for immediate relief of many breathing conditions.
Who needs a nebulizer?
Individuals who suffer from chronic illnesses like asthma, cystic fibrosis, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), emphysema, and other respiratory maladies often use nebulizers as the primary delivery source of their medication, to help them breathe. Quite often, when a baby or child gets a cold, doctors prescribe medicine which is best delivered through a nebulizer to ease the child’s breathing problems. Nebulizers can also be part of a respiratory treatment plan for acute illnesses, such as bronchitis or pneumonia, in addition to emergency asthma treatment. It is essential to always consult your physician before buying a nebulizer unit because they will still be able to offer you the best advice on which one to buy, and which one is suitable for your specific problem.

Here’s how to use the nebulizer machine:
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Connect the hose to the air compressor.
Fill up the medicine cup with your prescription medication. In order to avoid spilling the drug, ensure to close the medicine cup firmly, and then hold the mouthpiece straight up and down.
Next, attach the mouthpiece and hose to the medicine cup.
Put the mouthpiece in your mouth and keep your lips firm around it, so all the medicine can be directed to your lungs.
Breathe in through your mouth till all the medicine has been used. This will take around 10-15 minutes, and if needed, a nose clip can be used to help you breathe through the mouth. For small children, it’s best to use a mask.
When done, turn off the machine.
Wash both the medicine cup and mouthpiece with water and air dry everything until the next time you need to use it.
